The Rubens House
Make a visit to the house and studio of Peter Paul Rubens, the world-famous Baroque painter from the 16th and 17th centuries. For more than 400 years, he and his work have been a source of inspiration. Most of his work originated in this house.
You will be shown around his house and past his masterpieces, such as Adam and Eve. However, you will also see the work of his talented collaborator Anthony van Dyck, and his own collection of art.
The Antwerp Zoo
The Antwerp Zoo Not is not only nice for a fun outing with the children, but it offers something for everyone. The zoo was opened in the 19th century, making it the oldest zoo in Belgium, and one of the oldest in the world.
Admire around 5000 animals, such as red pandas, hippos, elephants, and great apes. Some 4000 fish swim around between the coral in the huge reef aquarium.
The big market in Mechelen
On the large market in Mechelen, you will find the City Hall, which consists of three parts. This can be clearly seen due to the different building styles that have been applied. Lastly, the cloth hall, where people used to trade in textile products, was added to the town hall. Other than the town hall, many events are organized here and you will find the nicest terraces and restaurants.
